Child Application Notes:

  • VBS 2018 is for children who were born between 1st September 2004 and 31st August 2013 (inclusive).
  • Those currently in Year 8 may choose whether to attend VBS in the Seniors Tent OR volunteer to help at VBS.
  • Children born before 1st September 2004 may volunteer to help at VBS.
  • Your child must live, or attend a school, within 7 miles of Saffron Walden Castle - click here to view map.
  • If VBS is oversubscribed, places within the oversubscribed age group will be allocated on a random selection basis.
  • There may be overlaps of ages groups within the tents; allocations are not always based on the child's school year.
  • VBS is a better experience for the children if they can attend all week, but applications are still accepted for those who can only attend for part of the event - please give details of planned absence(s) on your form.
  • Separate application forms must be completed for each child if you are applying for more than one child.
  • Parents are responsible for providing their children with a packed lunch, snacks and drinks.
  • Please contact us if you no longer wish to take up a place for your child, or if your child is unable to attend any day during VBS week due to illness, etc.
  • If your child is unhappy at VBS, or is behaving in a way that is dangerous or detrimental to the enjoyment of others, and he/she does not respond to positive encouragement to participate appropriately, you will be asked to collect your child.
  • VBS can only run if there are sufficient volunteers; please consider helping at this year's event.
